Waikiki’s Hawaiiana Hotel to close

By: Shane NelsonNovember 06, 2009 - Travel Weekly

The 93-unit Hawaiiana Hotel has stopped accepting reservations and will close, according to reports.

The sign above the hotel's main entrance was removed earlier this week, but no closing date has been made public.

The low-rise Waikiki hotel, which opened in 1955, has gone through foreclosure, bankruptcy and a sale, according to reports.

The Hawaiiana has been popular among budget travelers and guests fond of booking rooms for months at a time.

The three-building hotel is adjacent to the new Trump International Hotel and Tower Waikiki complex.
